Mangaluru: Homage to Madhukar Shetty - public condemns BJP leaders' absence

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (ANK)

Mangaluru, Dec 30: Hundreds of supporters paid homage to late IPS officer Madhukar Shetty at Mangaluru international airport on Saturday, December 29.

The mortal remains of Madhukar Shetty reached the airport at around 10 pm. Scores of people, leaders, and police officials gathered at the airport.

District in-charge minister U T Khader, former MLAs J R Lobo, Mohiudeen Bava, Abhaya Chandra Jain, mayor Bhaskar Moily, Shashidhar Hegde paid homage to Madhukar Shetty at the airport.

Surprisingly, no BJP MLAs and local party corporators were seen at the airport to pay homage to Madhukar Shetty. The absence of BJP leaders like MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLAs Vedavyas Kamath, Dr Bharath Y Shetty, Umanath Kotian, Rajesh Naik, Angara raised eyebrows and public have started criticizing BJP for its double standard on social media.

When entire state is in agony of losing its fearless cop, the absence of BJP leaders has made way to debate among public. People have started questioning and expressing their anger on social media for playing politics even while paying homage to Madhukar Shetty.

Did BJP leaders skip homage for Team Modi’s Yakshagana performance?

Team Modi had conducted a Yakshagana performance at Mannagudda which began at around 10 pm with an intention to make Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister for the second term. It is alleged that BJP leaders might have taken part in the Yakshagana programme at Mannagudda and hence skipped paying homage to Madhukar Shetty.

*IF YOU ARE STILL WONDERING WHY BJP LEADERS MISSED IPS OFFICERS FUNERAL*

In 2009, then Lokayukta Justice Santosh Hegde put together a team, comprising retired DGP RK Datta, IFS officer UV Singh and IPS officer Madhukar Shetty, which made life a living hell for corrupt leaders and their minions. It was this Lokayukta team that was responsible for the illegal mining report that eventually forced the then Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa to resign from office.

Patriotism has no value for Sangh Parivar. Even People of coastal Karnatak approved through recent days elect-roll process. So don't expect any respect to upright officer or freedom fighter or soldier.

Blinded by the quest to make Modi, the PM, these people have lost all self respect and humanity.

It's alright to support someone and work towards making them the PM, but it is not good as humans to behave like this. I guess Modi himself to condemn this kind of behaviour.

If such people come to power, how can we expect them to understand problems we face.
