Daijiworld Media Network - Kundapur (SP)

Kundapur, Mar 31: With reference to stabbing of a couple from Basrur near here employed at Munich and residing at Augsburg, Munich by an immigrant, the condition of the wife, Smitha Basrur (40), continues to be critical. Her husband, B V Prashanth (51), who was also working in the same company as his wife, had died of stab injuries on the spot near the couple's residence. Prashanth, who was of Hosanagar, Shivamogga district origin, has constructed a house for his family in the town.

The couple residing at Augsburg had been granted German citizenship last year. It is said that the assailant suddenly launched the attack when the couple was getting down the stairs of their residence on Friday. Srinivas, a relative of Prashanth, said that the doctors of the hospital where the lady is being treated expect Smitha's recovery to take about three weeks.

Prashanth, an engineering graduate, was employed at Munich since the last many years. The couple has two children, Sakshi (15) and Shlok (10). Prashanth's mother, Vinaya, currently lives in the house acquired by Prashanth 13 years ago in the town.

The family members and those who are close to the couple here are shocked at this sudden incident. They are consulting various sources about the way they have to move further in the case now. It is said that they are awaiting advice from the Indian embassy as they have to conform to laws and regulations prevalent in Germany. In all likelihood, once they get clear guidelines from the embassy, Smitha's parents and Prashanth's mother will go to Germany to do the needful.

Years back

It is said that the attacker, who is of Guinea origin, stays in the residential complex where the couple stayed. He had an altercation with the couple at around 7 pm on Friday, it is said. After the quarrel escalated, the assailant suddenly took out a knife and attacked the couple, it is learnt. The neighbours who saw the horrifying scene of the profusely bleeding couple having collapsed on the floor, called the police. The attacker did not resist when the police came and took him into custody. Prashanth, who suffered injuries to various body parts including his head, lost his life on the spot.

By seeing most of the comments it looks like the story"FROG IN THE WELL" whichnthinks the world outside the well in dangerous. This is only a fight between 2 people which turned violent which when happens in their hometown nobody cares when in other country gets exploded

If I have to speculate, this may be noise related incident. Apartment floors make lot of noise when someone walks/runs and bothers downstairs neighbors. This a very common issue and causes lot of friction. You do not want to mess with non Indians, most of them have very short fuse. I suspect this is what happened here unfortunately. Very sad.

When staying in another land should not show our muscle power and to stay calm to prevent any damage. In our country we can do anything. There is not much any fearness. In other country...we do not know mood of people of other nationalites as they are strange to us.
Better stay cool and not to reciprocate at any circumstances. Otherwise it will turn fatal. Anyhow we cannot tell anything..it's after all pre-written by almighty. What happened is not good. After certain period after achieving basic necessary things in life..try to settle down in home country in midst of family members. There is no end. Wants are unlimited. Wants to take quick decision. Think better of our country and adjust with it..with whatever little saved earnings.

@Raju karkala ,same old song.you forget even in our own country one who works for others too is a slave too.when in own country one doesnt get enough or you get better chaances to improve yourselves ,worth to go.That is my experience.Only others should not give a verdict why they go elsewhere to work.Everyone is free to choose .The moment one gets into trouble in foreign land we shouldnt jump to conclusion, that this happens only in foreign or certain land.Such incidents are happening everyday in our land ,in our neighbourhood too That we dont see or close our eyes.Heartfelt sympathy to the family, specially to these small children.Hope the mother gets well fast.Neighbours quarrel are common whether in our own land or foreign land.some are very aggressive. As they say, when you know to talk ,quarrel doesnt exist.

Terrorism has no color..., it can happen anywhere..., couple of weeks back it was in New Zealand and now it is in Germany....,

Sorry to see this happening..., time for everyone to embrace & practice tolerance...., which was taught by HINDUSTAN to the world..., - "vasudaiva kutumbam...., sarva dharma samabhava..., ahimsa paramo dharma....", these tenets are not just limited to practice within Hindustan..., it is universally relevant...,

After all hatredness is not the solution this...., as Father of Hindustan Mahatma Gandhdiji rightly said - "eye for an eye..., make the whole world blind..."

This is not a terrorist act. This is murder. The couple had quarrel with immigrant, whose origin from Guinea. The murderer stays in the residential complex where the couple stayed.

Sad, the children lost their father and parents their Son. Hope the wife recovers from the stabbing wounds, as she is in critical condition. Our prayers are with the family and for the speedy recovery of wife.

Feeling very sad for this couple.
Germany was a safe country till many immigrants given asylum.
Irrespective of religious affiliation, all Hardliners, including the recent New-Zealand one, are threat to civilized society.
Whichever religion and region has more Hardliners, in proportion to that, the country is unsafe for civilized people.

    Points to be noted:
-Both victims and asslaint are immigrants
-There was a altercation between the victims and asslaint before the attack and we don't know the reason behind this altercation, it could be purely personal and 'hardliners' may not have anything to do with this after all.
Don't such things happen in every other country in the world? Take our own country, how many foreign tourists are robbed and raped every year by our own countrymen and not by immigrants!

I didn't intend to judge, who is right, who is wrong.
I believe humans are products of environment. So many try to better society.
For handling conflicts, killing can never be justified.
I meant for day by day increasing violence, hardliners / fanatics are responsible, for they instigate ignorant people. Therefore threat to civil society.
