Udupi, Jan 22: To mark healthy weight awareness month, the Department of Swasthavritta and Panchakarma at Muniyal Institute of Ayurveda Medical Sciences, Manipal, will be conducting a medical check-up and offering treatment for obesity from January 24 to 30, between 9 am and 4 pm at its premises.

Obesity is primarily caused by a sedentary lifestyle, high-calorie diet, and lack of physical activity. However, lesser-known causes include genetics, hormonal imbalances such as PCOS, hypothyroidism, and even stress.

Ayurveda offers several effective treatment options like Panchakarma, Pathyahara, and Yoga, which are beneficial for both preventing and managing obesity.
