Bantwal: Congress activist, former municipal council member Norbert D’Souza passes away

Bantwal, May 9: Private bus owner, Congress party activist, former nominated member of municipal council, Norbert D’ Souza(50), passed away this afternoon after brain haemorrhage at a private hospital.

He was admitted in Thumbe hospital yesterday evening, Wednesday after he developed health complications. However, as he had high blood pressure and brain related illness, he was shifted to Unity hospital for additional treatment. Hospital sources said that he died at 3.50 pm on Thursday without responding to treatment.

He was well known as private bus agent in Bantwal and was the proprietor of five private buses with the name ‘Nithyadar’. He was Congress activist and served as nominated member of the municipal council during last term. He had lost after contesting for the post of municipal Councillor. He had indulged in active politics and was popularly called ‘Bus Munna’.

He has left behind his wife Babita, a son and a daughter. As his relatives are abroad, his mortal remains are kept in Father Muller Hospital mortuary for their arrival. His final rites will be held on Saturday.

Former minister B Ramanath Rai, Bantwal block congress president Baby Kunder, zilla panchayat member Padmashekhar Jain, former block president Mayilappa Salian and others visited the hospital and paid their last respects.
