Mangaluru, Sep 19: Julekha Khatoon, a 22-year-old woman from West Bengal who had been staying at the Prajna Swadhar Center in Mudipu, has gone missing under mysterious circumstances. Khatoon, who was brought to the center four years ago in connection with a begging case, had been residing there after she was found at Mangaluru Central Railway Station earlier this year.

Khatoon, who had been staying at the rehabilitation center for several months, was responsible for picking up and dropping off four children from the Kurunadu Anganwadi.

On September 19, at around 2:45 p.m., she left to pick up the children but failed to return. After half an hour, the Anganwadi teacher confirmed that Khatoon had not come to collect the children, prompting the staff at the rehabilitation center to search the surrounding areas, including Mudipu Junction.

Despite extensive efforts, Khatoon remains untraceable, and a missing person’s complaint has been filed at Konaje Police Station (Case No: 109/2024). The police have registered the case under the section for missing women and have initiated an investigation into her disappearance.
