Mangaluru woman kept under house arrest by Kuwaiti employer rescued

Daijiworld Media Network – Kuwait (SB)

Kuwait, Jul 4: In a swift action, Indian social workers rescued a woman from Mangaluru, who was kept under house arrest by her employer in Kuwait. She was handed over to Indian Embassy officials on Thursday, July 4.

Six months back, Reshma Suvarna was taken to Kuwait for employment by Mangaluru based agents Jaber and Anwar. She was handed over to a Kuwaiti family, to work as a maid. The Kuwaiti agent, who introduced Reshma to the family, was given 1000 Kuwaiti Dinars as commission.

However, once under the family’s care, Reshma’s life became a nightmare. She was made to do chores from early morning up to midnight and was often denied food. Once she completed her work, she would be locked in a dark room. She was restricted from maintaining contact with her family and was not allowed to go out.

Meanwhile, Reshma’s family members in Mangaluru, made repeated attempts to contact her. However, all their efforts went in vain. When they contacted Jaber and Anwar, they failed to receive any response from them.

As a last resort, the family members appealed Indians settled in Kuwait to help find Reshma.

On Wednesday morning, Indian origin Kuwaiti residents Madav Naik, Dinesh Suvarna, Raj Bhandary and Mohandas Kamath, received a tip-off on Reshma’s whereabouts. Acting swiftly, they contacted Sibi U S, second secretary, Indian Embassy, Kuwait. As per his instructions, the team rescued Reshma from the house where she was kept locked.

Now Reshma has been brought to the Indian Embassy. She will be sent back to India, once the legal procedures are complete. The family members and Indian social workers thanked Sibi U S for his quick intervention in rescuing Reshma. It is suspected that Reshma was a victim of human trafficking and was sold by the Indian agents to the Kuwaiti family for a huge amount of money.

I can't understand why people get trapped with such fake agents . Yes people think that they can earn some good money for betterment of their fly. In the same way people must be awer of such fake agents. If a person is interested to go abbrod and work please go through a govt of India certified agents only. In govt website they have clearly mentioned the list of agents who are registered with India govt. And there is also a list of non rigistered agents and list of fake agents too.

Some people say why people go to gulf and work as slaves or get trapped ,for their imfromation , if u go through a reputed agency and registered agency there is no fear of getting traped. Hear we are not slaves we hang out freely but only thing we need to follow the law. That's it, some people start blaming the people of gulf , just for their imfromation " the person who sent that lady or other people is an Indian " so whom to blame ??

Joel mangalore, one cant see or not written on their forehead whether a agent is good or not.sometimes circumstances make one believe that they are good.May be their promises or sweet talk, high salary ? I must say thank God she was relieved fast ,quickly from all .Who knows how more sisters are there still suffering under their clutches?Shame on these agents, selling our own country sisters for the sake of money.why dont they sell their own sisters or wives for the money ?Feel like spitting on their face.God bless people who brought her out.Dear Reshma, instead of working for Dinars ,better work in own country.you have peace, food and free to work or not.

There are many cases happened before. Like the 40 youths trapped in Kuwait because of trust with agents.
Like these type of Agents cant be trusted anymore.

I am sure the God fearing kuwaiti family did Namaz five times a day and fasted in Ramadan.
They may even dare to justify their brutality saying the maid is kafir !!

At the same time don't forget there are many muslim families from GCC who are good at heart and helped lot of Indians working there as maids. In India how many Hindus or Christians torture their the maids. I have seen my Hindu neighbours who was not feeding their maid proper meals. Good and bad people are in all religion.

It is a shame of your comments. The more people pray they become evil. Religious hypocrisy is the evil things one has to suffer at the hands of devils. This women was not deserve to suffer at the hands of devils. She went there to work and her dignity, choices and freedom was take n away by these live devils and made her life not liveable. What the heck you talk about religion and what religion? Is this how human should be treated? Do you like your loved one treated this way? Shame on you religion defender

Prakash Mangalore , Namaz has nothing to do with how people treat their servents. This is not first time maids in Kuwait are treated badly.May be they think servents are there to do everything. They think with money can be done everything.I still remember about Palimar Pauline who was taken ?or sold to Libyan family and her problems there ,to find her self was a adventure, and bringing back still worst.Hope she is now happy .But sure she will not forget her way of cross in her life.Thank God this woman is now safe and reach her home with many helping hands.Muslims offer Namaz as their religion preach it.But they dont connect prayers and their treatment of servents together. One educated person understands it better than a illiterate.
