Mangaluru: Mount Carmel Central School celebrates Teachers’ Day

Media Release

Mangaluru, Sep 5: The 5th of September 2019 found Mount Carmel Central School abuzz with activity. There was an air of excitement as students rushed about greeting their teachers and presenting little gifts of roses, a chocolate or a pen. Preparations were on for a lively programme for the teachers.

The programme, conducted by Class X and XII, along with the cabinet members was held in the school auditorium. The teachers were welcomed by students who performed a traditional Shingari melam. After a prayer service, the students entertained both teaching and nonteaching staff with songs, dances and a PowerPoint presentation. The programme was interspersed with games which thrilled both students and teachers alike. Every staff member was presented with a handmade creative card and a potted plant, a unique expression of the gratitude of students as well as acknowledgement of the lessons on environment learned in the school. Prizes were distributed to the winning teams.

After the programme by the students, the PTEC members took over and presented a meaningful programme. At the outset, they honoured and felicitated the administrator Sr Carissima, with a shawl and a bowl of fruits, for her long years of dedicated service in the field of education and to the school. A substantial collection was also presented to her by the PTEC for the St Agnes Special School Midday Meal Fund. An entertaining programme for the teachers included a few games and a very interesting dance as they saw their PTEC members turn into school children in school uniforms while performing the action song and dance. It was a hilarious moment.

The programme ended with lively dancing and a sumptuous lunch. The day was thoroughly enjoyed by all the staff members.
