Byndoor on way to getting elevated as town panchayat

Byndoor, Jan 3: Byndoor, which is a gram panchayat under the government records as of now, is being elevated as town panchayat. The town, which has risen to prominence on account of its proximity to well-known place of pilgrimage Kollur, has of late seen lot of developments.

The government, on December 31, 2019, issued a gazette notification, inviting people having any objection to the government's proposal to turn this gram panchayat into a town panchayat, to file their objections if any within a month from the day of gazette notification. This notification was issued by under-secretary in the department of urban development A Vijayakumar.

The notification stated that the new town panchayat has been formed by merging Byndoor, Yadthare and Paduvari panchayats. The new town panchayat will have a population of 24,957. It covers geographical areas falling in Byndoor, Yadthare, Taggarse Paduvari village areas.

MLA B M Sukumar Shetty, said that he had put lot of efforts into turning Byndoor into a town panchayat. He said this was possible because of the effort of MP B Y Raghavendra and chief minister B S Yediyurappa.
