Mangaluru: Bomb hoax at international airport - Accused held

Mangaluru, Aug 20: The person who had made a call on Wednesday August 19 and informed that a bomb would be planted at the international airport here, stands arrested.

The person had called the mobile phone belonging to the former airport director here, M R Vasudeva, on Wednesday afternoon to threaten him that a bomb would be planted at the airport. He immediately conveyed the information to the airport authorities. Preliminary investigation revealed that it was a hoax call.

The airport officials confirmed that the airport had not received any call but the call was received by the former airport director. "After we were informed about this call, we informed the police. The situation is normal and there is no cause for worry," they added.

The police have arrested a person from Hebri in this connection. The police said that he looks like he is mentally deranged. Further details are awaited.
