Karnataka court directs police to file case against Kangana Ranaut for tweet over Farm Laws

Tumakuru, Oct 10 (IANS): A court in Karnataka's Tumkuru on Friday directed the state police to register an FIR against Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut on her recent tweet allegedly targeting farmers protesting against the farm laws.

Based on a complaint by lawyer L. Ramesh Naik, the court of the judicial magistrate first class directed the Inspector of Kyathasandra police station to register an FIR against the actress.

The court said the complainant had filed an application under Section 156(3) of the CrPC for investigation.

"The office is hereby directed to issue intimation to the circle police inspector of Kyathasandra police station along with (a) photostat copy of the complaint for report," it added.

The actress had, on September 21, tweeted from her Twitter handle @KanganaTeam: "People who spread misinformation and rumours about CAA that caused riots are the same people who are now spreading misinformation about Farmers bill and causing terror in the nation, they are terrorists..."

Reportedly hurt by this tweet, Naik filed a case against Ranaut.

    This ‘Queen ‘could do some class acting and became known for her movies . After sometime she must have realized that acting alone is not worthwhile soo to continue in the spotlight what else is better then joining the ruling dispensation and she had a go at it.

    Court directed police to file case for Kangana’s tweet over farm laws, not for targeting farmers. In fact she has tweeted against those spreading rumours and misinformation about the Farmers Bill, obviously against the opposition but without naming anybody. Apparently she will come out without being convicted.

    Freedom of expression is, she can give her opinion on the basis of what is in front of her. In the above message she accused somebody as terrorists. Still she has freedom of speach; she can either prove that they were terrorists or she has to penalised. I cannot say you as terrorist and claim that I have freedom of speach.
