Adani group takes over management of Mangaluru International Airport

Mangaluru, Oct 31: According to the ambitious project of union government of privatizing the international airport in the city, the management of the airport was taken over by Adani group of company on Saturday October 31.

In fact, the Adani group has taken over the management of the airport from the midnight of Friday, October 30. The official handover process is going to take place on Saturday, October 31.

The top level officials of Adani group will arrive at the Mangaluru International Airport on the morning of Saturday. There will be a pooja before the handing over of the airport management. Sources confirmed that only few people will take part in the programme in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

Though the airport will be handed over to the Adani group, both Airport Authority of India and Adani group will work in tandem for a period of one year. Money exchange, commercial activities in the airport, profit and loss will be looked after by Adani group during this one year of joint operation also. Airport Authority of India will give priority to the arrivals and departures of flights and take on the role of director on the whole system.

Even after one year, the arrivals and departures of flights will be managed by Airport Authority of India. This means that both the Air Traffic Control (ATC) and Communication and Navigation Centre will be looked after by the airport authority. Excepting security and airline staff, terminal building, runway, electrical and civil works will be handled by Adani group.

    I don’t think Adani or anybody taking over the airport will make a big difference. Only the management and maintenance of the airport premises will be taken over by Adani. Immigration and customs officers will be the same central govt. employees, luggage check-in counters will have staff from the respective airlines. Food, beverages and liquor may become costlier depending upon the rent charged from the vendors, even charges for using toilets may rise.

    The issue here is there is no resistance at all from from the opposition party in Mlore for such moves. They are silent . Thats why BJP is having its way. BJP knows that Congress is just a bunch of 10-15 people who have no public image nor support. We saw it with Vijaya Bank . 15 people protested and it was a laughing matter. So anything goes. Soon Mangaluru will become Gujju or Sindi land. Just wait and watch.

    But Adani is not Kannadiga. It is for the benefit of Karnataka that Kannadiga businesses should be given first priority in state projects otherwise how will our Kannadiga people become rich.

    The Govt of India had given enough time for any one to buy the airport management .Unfortunately they did not have any takers. Nobody came forward from Mlore. So , No use blaming Ambani or Adani now. The quality of service will be much better now. The lazy Airport Personnel will have to work their axses off to ensure quality service.

    Adani is an successful Indian entrepreneur capable of managing the project which he got through competitive bidding.It is not a secret dealing between him and Modi govt....Why anybody from DK didn't participate in the bidding is the mute question....
    If the project was given to any Italywala then things would gave different.
    If Adsni fails in accomplishing the task then you people have s right to protest and take to task in a democratic way.
    Therefore be happy ... the project is in safe hands...

    Only Billionaires have capacity to participate in this bidding. Our contractors here in Mangalore is struggling to build a footpath contract too. Morover one of our coastal Billionaire in Dubai has recently become bankrupt. I will become a billionaire but it may take about 5 to 7 years. Good days yet to come.

    Adani took over the mumbai airport from the existing gvk reddy group by using IT raids. As if adani pays proper tax. Adani, ambani rig the bidding and manipulate the tariffs. This is crony capitalism at its peak. We're slowly becoming an oligarchy.
