Karnataka IPS officer P Ravindranath withdraws resignation thrice in 12 years

Bengaluru, Nov 7 (IANS): Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), P. Ravindranath on Friday withdrew his resignation after meeting Karnataka Chief Minister, B. S. Yediyurappa.

Just about a week ago, the 1989 batch IPS officer, had resigned after his batchmate, T. Suneel Kumar who was promoted to the DGP rank just two days prior to his retirement. He had kicked off a row over promotions in the police department.

In the last 12 years, Ravindranath has resigned thrice and withdrawn as many times.

Speaking to reporters after his meeting with Yediyurappa, Ravindranath said that he had decided to withdraw his resignation after none other than CM assured him to redress his grievances.

"It was a healthy discussion between us. He (CM) has assured me that all my issues will be redressed. If he fails to redress, I will resign again," he warned and left in a huff.

He is known for resigning from services over the last 12 years and he had resigned for the third time last week in protest over his batchmate T. Suneel Kumar being promoted just one day prior to his retirement.

The controversial IPS officer had hit headlines in 2014, as he was caught clicking pictures of two young women in a coffee shop in Bengaluru.

One of the women, a journalist in a reputed newspaper, did not want to leave the issue and she registered a police complaint. A case of assault with intent to outrage the modesty of a woman and criminal intimidation was registered against Ravindranath.

The police had seized his mobile phone that was used for taking the images and sent it for forensic analysis as part of investigations.

He resigned protesting over the then Bengaluru police commissioner Raghavendra Auradkar's role in aframing him.' Ravindranath subsequently withdrew the resignation.

Earlier, in 2008, the IPS officer who was an IG then had resigned protesting the ahigh handedness of his senior colleague.' The trigger was an argument between Ravindranath and his boss who was an ADGP, administration, B E Umapathy.

He had complained that Umapathy had rejected his leave application when there was a medical emergency at home and later he resigned in protest. However, soon after he withdrew the same.

I am more interested in knowing whether that officer short of just a day from retirement, was given a promotion. So that his pension will be based on salary of the last position he held.

Pathetic that we are criticizing him for resigning but not aware that the pension for good-for-nothing promotion is going from our taxes.

"Karnataka IPS officer P Ravindranath withdraws resignation thrice in 12 years". Really this guy needs counseling for 3-4 months.

His mind is not stable. There is something he is mentally disturbed. Better state CM-HM-chief secretary discusses this guy's matter urgently.

If necessary then pls offer this guy an early retirement. Because in general, all important Government service department heads (mostly & importantly home-finance-health-defense) must have a sound and accurate state of mind in order to handle things smoothly and very efficiently.

Pinto Sir, it should be 13 in 12 years... One extra bonanza... Buy one get one free 😆😆 But, tell me which employer gives job like that? Every interview one of the important and ready questions is "why do you leave the present job"? If this officer is not stable how come is he performing his duties as ADGP? That too since 12 years?
