Mangaluru: ‘Can people of Ullal elect a non-Muslim MLA’ - Kalladka Bhat stokes another controversy

Daijiworld Media Network –Mangaluru (DV)

Mangaluru, Jan 28: RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat triggered another controversy stating that if the people of Ullal have guts they should elect a non-Muslim MLA from Mangaluru constituency.

Speaking to media here, he said, "The land which is now called Pakistan, was with India. The people who live there, were all Indians. The people living there changed their mindset, after partition. The land completely turned red. Hindus who live in Pakistan face persecution. Hindu women are converted and temples are vandalised. A situation has emerged where it is very difficult for a Hindu to live.

"We witness the same situation in Ullal. Hence, I said that Ullal is becoming like Pakistan. I do not regret having made that statement. It should not happen and that is people should b alert.

“Same things are happening there. A few years ago, these people attacked fisherwomen when men went fishing. Later, a youth was murdered. Youths who were going on bikes were stabbed. Cow slaughter and ‘Love Jihad’ is taking place there. If this is not Pakistan then what is it? What is the difference between this place and Pakistan?

“Hence, I ask if you have the guts to make a non-Muslim as MLA. There are places where Hindus make Muslims and Christians as MLAs. It can never happen in Pakistan. It is not possible even here (Ullal). So, there is fear and that is the reason I said Ullal is becoming like Pakistan. Hence, people who live there should be cautious. People with such mindset should make their mind to live in India. They should be with India and be voice for the sentiments of people of India. We will never ask them to become Hindu.

“Cow slaughter, Love Jihad and atrocities on Hindu and harassment of women should stop. People who leave there, should allow others to live without fear,” he said.

Actually Ullal had elected Mr Jayaram Shetty (BJP) as an MLA for the 1994-99 term.

Mr. Bhat, being a seasoned politician, definitely realizes that caste and religion play an important role in Indian political equation. His statement seems to be directed at only "rousing the sentiments" of the majority, and harnessing the political benefits

So grievances are deliberately inflated to serve narrow interests !

Why we need to elect a candidate based on religion? If muslims doing that they are doing wrong. They prefer religion over development and that is the route cause of all communalism and disharmony in the society.

Before Abdul kalam name was proposed by BJP, a Christian PC Alexander former governor name was proposed by Shiv sena supremo Balsaheb and approved by BJP,

but because of Sonia congress objecting to his name, Abdul Kalams name was proposed, if not we would had a Christian president by now, this is a good lesson of secularism for our community.

Readers, Many of us would not be comfortable or perhaps disagree with most of the extreme views, of Mr. K. Bhatt... Despite his occasional histrionics, this time he has certainly made a thought provoking, rather a controversial outburst... Is it not true that a Christian , Mr J. Lobo, was elected by a majority community, as an MLA in Mangaluru constituency ???? It is an open secret, that there are many areas called as " Mini Pakistan " in Mumbai and in many regions of my state in Maharashtra.... The electorate must throw back the gauntlet at K.Bhatt, by electing a Hindu or a Christian MLA, in the upcoming Ullal election....

Bro !! I was really astounded to learn that a Muslim, was also elected as an MLA, in a predominantly majority constituency of Mangaluru !!! Hope the electorate will take a resolute decision this election, to vote a " Non Muslim " candidate from a minority bastion of Ullal !!!

When indian origin people get elected in many western countries we should learn something. The motive behind kalladka speech is purely spewing venom. If the candidate is good he or she can shine and win anywhere. That shows the signs of progressive country. Kalladka thinking shows we are not different than those who only think color and religion
