Karwar, Apr 24: All India Konkani Parishad (AIKP) will hold Konkani Literary Conference at Sadashivgad here on Friday April 29.
Hindi writer Dr Giriraj Kishore will inaugurate the 20th All India Konkani Literary Conference. Former state minister Prabhakar Rane will be the guest of honour.
Seventy-four-year-old Dr Giriraj Kishore is a novelist, short story writer, playwright and critic. He has authored several books such as Pehla Girmitia, Dhai Ghar, Yatnaghar, Tisri and Sattah.
He has won the Bharatendu Puraskar from the Hindi Sansthan, Lucknow; Sahitya Akademi Award; Vyas Samman of the K K Birla Foundation and other prestigious awards.
He was conferred the Emeritus Fellowship of the Government of India for 1998-99 and was the Fellow of the Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Shimla from 1999 to 2001. He retired as the head of the Centre for Creative Writing and Publication, IIT, Kanpur.
Dr Giriraj has travelled widely in the United States of America, China, South Africa and many European Countries.
Meanwhile, arrangements have been made for the successful conduct of the Konkani Sahitya Sammelan at Sadashivgad. The venue on the NH 17 is 2 kms from Asnoti railway station and 5 kms from Karwar railway station. Delegates will be transported from both railway stations to the venue.
Registration of the delegates is going on. Those interested in registering themselves as delegates, may call at the Konkani Bhasha Mandal, Margao, the Goa Konkani Akademi at Patto Colony, Panaji or the Parishad’s office at second floor, Daulat Building, Near Broadway Book Centre, St Inez Panaji.
