Dubai: Stage Set for Comedy, Musical Event ‘Daiji Darbar – 2011’ on Apr 29

Dubai, Apr 26: ‘Daiji Darbar-2011’ will be held on Friday April 29 at the Shaikh Rashid Auditorium of Indian High School Karama from 4.30 pm onwards.
The event is being organized by Daiji Dubai, the association of Konkani writers in the UAE, on account of its 12th anniversary. Singers and comedians from India will be flown in exclusively to perform at the event.
During the event, the annual Daiji Award will be conferred on Jerry Niddodi while the lifetime achievement award will be given to Henry D’Souza from Mumbai, the singer known for ‘Katrina’.

Henry D’Souza will be a star performer at the event along with Nephie Rod Pradhan from Bollywood. The duo will present the popular Konkani hits of all time.
Keny Zuzarthe, known for dressing in drag, will be another attraction of the event. He will also render his popular songs along with a couple of new songs.
Young and emerging singing sensations Antony Tauro, Mumbai, known for the super hit ‘Mog To Kone Dekla’ and young and presentable Munita Veigas, who has created a name for herself at a young age, will be performing for the first time in Dubai.
Comedian duo Jerry-Joseph promise an entertaining evening for the audience. Dubai's talented artistes Santosh D’Souza and Sunitha Menezes will support the visiting artistes in their skits.
‘Ocean Kids’, well-known dance group of the UAE, will present some spectacular dance items as usual.
UAE's talented young and energetic musican Ramiro, who has already accompanied renowned artistes, will provide the music along with his troupe.
Two distinguished guests from Mangalore and Bahrain will present the event as special guests.

Dr Edward Nazareth, well-known orthopedic surgeon from Fr Muller Hospital, who is also known to the Daijiworld’s readers through his popular ‘Ask Doctor’ column will preside over the award presentation ceremony.
Richard Moras, founder, ‘Konkani Kutam’, Bahrain, and noted Konkani activist and writer will be the guest of honour.
Rohan Monteiro, managing director, Property Real Estate, will be another guest of the event as he has been a great supporter of Konkani language and culture, not only in Mangalore, but also in Dubai
Those who would like to attend this event are requested to reserve their passes in advance as there have been many requests for tickets already.
The event will start at 5.00 pm and is expected to conclude before 9.00 pm.
