Kasargod, Apr 27: Those travelling in an ambulance along with the mortal remains of a man felt they were communicating with the spirit of the dead man, when he asked for water. Because, they were grieving his death, and were heading for graveyard to conduct his funeral.
The bereaved family was soon enraptured at the fact that the man, who was pronounced dead, was very much alive. The man in question is Narayanan (50) from Nittadkam in Kanhangad. Narayanan had suddenly fallen unconscious near the Hosadurg market near Kanhangad on April 21. He had been rushed to a hospital in Mangalore. Surgery was performed on the man at the hospital. Later, the hospital authorities said that he had died. His body was handed over to his family members. His body was wrapped in a mat, cotton was stuffed into his nose, and the body was being taken to his native place for conducting funeral.
When the ambulance was negotiating Tekkil Road, the man started making signs. Although those accompanying him were taken aback at this unexpected development initially, they recovered soon, and found that he was signalling for water. Once the cotton in his nose was removed, the man started speaking fluently. He was later admitted into a hospital in Kanhangad, where he is learnt to be recovering.
