Mangaluru: St Agnes CBSE School holds Gandhi Jayanthi celebrations

Mangaluru, Oct 2: St Agnes CBSE School offered a great honour to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi on October 2. The day being the birthday of this remarkable leader was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm depicting the love and respect to this great legend.

The teachers and the students organised a meaningful programme to commemorate this day. The programme began with a meaningful prayer service followed by welcoming the gathering and depicting the significance of the day. The administrator Sr Edna Furtado AC , the vice-principal Sr Lenita Lobo AC and the co-ordinator Reena honoured the portrait of Gandhiji with students melodiously singing the raghupathi raghava bhajan.

In honour of this great day the students were involved in various activities such as shramadhan and the oath taking ceremony conducted in classes meaningfully. Other activities such as writing slogans, portrait making of Mahatma Gandhi, drawing the charaka, wealth out of waste, posters on swatch Bharath etc were also conducted to the students.

The administrator in her message congratulated all students for their brilliant performance and encouraged every student to follow Gandhian values of peace, non-violence and truth with the theme message of ‘My Life is my message”.

The students of grade VC coordinated the programme with teachers Chetana and Daia. The programme was compered by Manvi Fernandes. Nikisha welcomed the gathering and Ahana A put forth the significance of the day. Smitha Alvares proposed the vote of thanks expressing gratitude for each and every one’s participation. The programme was brought to a closure with a rally conducted with teachers and students joining the procession and making the event a grand success.

The future depends on what we do at the present. Let’s all think and work like Mahatma Gandhi.
