Mangaluru: Accused gets 15 years in jail for raping minor, videographing act

Mangaluru, Oct 7: The additional district and sessions court FTSC-2 sentenced an accused, who sexually assaulted a girl, videographed the act and threatened to upload the same on social media, to 15 years in prison.

Seetharama (26), a resident of Todar, was arrested in 2019 by Bajpe police under POCSO based on the complaint given by the victim.

The girl, who is related to the accused was sexually assaulted at a deserted place. Seetharama was the first accused in the case, while Narayana, who intervened saying that he will get the girl married to the accused was the second accused.

K R Nayak, inspector of Bajpe police station had investigated the matter and submitted charge sheet to the court.

Justice Radhakrishna of FTSC-2 court, who conducted the inquiry, sentenced accused Seetharama to 15 years in prison and slapped a fine of Rs 50,000. Second accused Narayana was acquitted.
