Udupi: Fisherman falls into river while baiting, drowns

Udupi, Oct 9: A fisherman died as he fell into the river from his boat while fishing on the evening of October 7.

Shivaraj (32), a resident of Hanumannagar near Malpe is the deceased.

As usual, Shivaraj had been to Swarna river of Kallianpur for fishing. He lost his balance and fell into the river. Though fire service personnel and diving expert Eshwar Malpe searched for Shivraj, they could not find him.

The mortal remains of Shivraj were found on the afternoon of October 8. Shivraj was unmarried and was working with the Hanumakrishna Kanni party of Malpe. On the morning of Friday, he had emptied the fish from the boat and gone fishing in the rivulet in the evening.

A case has been registered in Malpe police station.
