Youth need jobs, not empty promises: D K Shivakumar

Bengaluru, Oct 12: Even as KPCC President D K Shivakumar and Congress opposition leader in the assembly Siddaramaiah have been targeting Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai by launching the ‘PayCM’ over the 40% commission charge, the State Congress Chief has come out with another slogan to attack the Bommai-led BJP government by sporting a bright red colour t-shirt with yellow text symbolically signifying Kannada colours focusing on the unemployment problem.

Walking alongside Rahul Gandhi during Bharat Jodo Yatra on Wednesday, Shivakumar sported the T-Shirt with the message “Youth need jobs, not empty promises.’’

“It is our responsibility to stand accountable with the promises we make to our youth who repose their faith in us believing that we would take care of their future and utilize their potential. Youth need jobs, not empty promises,” he said making a veiled attack on BJP government who has failed to tame the rising unemployment in Karnataka.

Various government records including Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) and National Sample Survey Office (NSSO) reports have shown startling unemployment figures in Karnataka.

“These figures are particularly stark in rural Karnataka where 35 percent of youth with diploma certification are unemployed, while nearly a quarter of postgraduate degrees are without jobs. However, in urban areas 13.5 percent diploma holders are unemployed,’’ the KPCC chief said.

Shivakumar urged the unemployed youth to register their grievances on the website www.udyogasrishti.in which is an initiative of Karnataka Youth Congress that is focusing on creating solutions to the problems of unemployment in the state.

He asserted that Congress party is making more efforts aimed at creating more opportunities and more solutions when sworn to power.

Shivakumar said the website is part of his larger initiative to map the education qualification and aspirations of Karnataka youth so that Congress after sworn to power can provide desired jobs and employment to the youth in the state.

“Youth can share their current employment status, name, age, and other qualifications while filling the form on website which would to help us in get better jobs,” Shivakumar said and pointed out sustainable job-creating eco-system only if the factual status of the qualifications and aspirations of the youth and the job applicants are understood.

He appealed to the Youth to join the initiative in large numbers so that more and more jobs can be created in Karnataka.

Surprisingly Congress does not 'release' private sector job situation and prospects in India. It is this Private sector of Ambani-Adani - Ramdev Baba which is driving employment in large scale in India. Ola, Uber, Flipkart, Amazon, Zomato and Swiggy come second in this. So many lakhs are having livelihood because of this sector!
