Mangaluru, Oct 13: A fisherman of Tannirbhavi in Surathkal Guddekoppla has laid a Kairampani trap and caught more than 1,500 kilos of fish on Wednesday, October 12.
The fisherman Jeevan Pereira and his friends had been working on a big fish catch for the last 10-15 days. On Wednesday, the fishermen were successful in catching fish of various varieties such as Bangude, Koddayi and Kallooru in this big catch.

Out of 1,500 kilos of the fish caught, 400 kilos will be used for human consumption and the remaining quantity will be used as fertilisers. Fish manure fetches a price of Rs 17 a kilo.
A big fish catch of this nature requires 30 personnel to pull the net up together. If a big Kairampani fish net is laid at 7 am it is possible to lift the catch within an hour.
Jeevan said this was one of the fish catches after laying traps in the last several days.
