Udupi, Oct 14: Union minister Shobha Karandlaje said on Friday October 14 that Rahul Gandhi can never be on par with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Speaking about Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra, she said, “It only shows the physical fitness of Rahul Gandhi. Can Rahul Gandhi lead the country? The dream of Rahul Gandhi becoming on par with Narendra Modi will never be realized. Body fitness is not enough without mental fitness.

"People will decide if Rahul Gandhi has the mental fitness to rule the country,” she said.

On the incident where miscreants flashed swords at Beltangady MLA Harish Poonja, she said, “The supporters of PFI have lost hope after the ban on the organisation. We are receive threatening calls from various countries. I condemn the threats.

“Police should investigate and arrest the culprits. We are continuously receiving threat calls especially when we speak for Hindus. Police were unable to track internet calls. We will not be cowed by such calls. Terrorists and their supporters should be taught a lesson,” she said.

On the Supreme Court’s verdict on Karnataka’s hijab ban, she said, “The hijab case is likely to be handed over to the constitution bench of the Supreme Court.

“The two judges could not arrive at a unanimous decision. It will be decided by the constitution bench if the country wants hijab or not. Muslim girls should seriously think about it. Men at home are urging girls to wear hijab. The headscarf should not be allowed if Muslim women want freedom. Education and jobs are important for Muslim girls. Do not dance to the tune of men. Progressive women should guide India,” she said.
