Mangaluru, Oct 15: A complaint has been filed with the Mangaluru South police against a couple for pledging fake gold ornaments and obtaining loans fraudulently from a gold finance company.

The accused are identified Hastimal Parmar and his wife Sangeetha, residents of Monkey Stand.

The couple are accused of cheating a gold finance company by pledging 795 grams of fake gold, the complaint stated.

The accused pledged fake gold on different days and got Rs 26,99,910 in the form of a loan. When experts at the gold finance company examined the gold on October 1, it was found that the gold that the couple had pledged was fake. The company then sent a notice to the accused asking them to make the payment towards the loan. When the couple failed to make any payment, the company filed a complaint of cheating and breach of trust against the couple with the Mangaluru South police.

A case has been registered.

Surprised ..Why release the loan amount before inspection of the gold. Maybe some insider's job cannot be ruled out.

either got sucked into the fraud through competition, or the staff is involved. Mukkal Kg gold pledged and more than 26 Lakhs handed over and now police intervention is sought. Sounds like familiar story involved in eliciting loan from cooperative society banks with deliberate intention to cheat and staff involved in Quid-quo pro basis.

How come the loan sanctioned first and the verification done later ?? So much trust ?? In times that 15 Lakhs didn't come even after 8 years ??

There's no way this can be possible without an insiders hand. Gold loan companies double check for verification and this just sounds fabricated. Someone from the inside was involved who got their cut as well.

How come the loan sanctioned without proper verification Otherwise insiders changed the ornaments after releasing the loan. However insiders role is evident.

U Suresh udipi I too doubt the same.Usually without proper investigation a loan in that amount not given.Someone must have exchanged the gold to fake.Investigation is here needed.

Either the gold company guys are stupid/out of mind or the couple are lucky to escape the mandatory material tests... They must have pledged real gold initially once or twice until the local manager got familiar/confident with them... Excellent bounty collected and they can run away into rogue countries with that...
