Images of Jesus Christ, Goddess Lakshmi on ration cards in Ramnagar stir controversy

Ramnagar, Oct 19 (IANS): Controversy erupted in Karnataka's Ramnagar district after photos showing ration cards displaying the images of Jesus Christ and Goddess Lakshmi went viral on social media.

The incident took place in Dodda Alanahalli village, the birthplace of the state's Congress President D.K. Shivakumar.

The images of the Gods are printed on the back page of the ration card.

Hindu organisations have condemned the incident and also demanded an investigation.

The Sri Ram Sena has said that it would take up the matter with the District Commissioner.

Meanwhile, the development has led to debate over attempts to promote communalism in the region. Hindu activists and BJP leaders have claiming that attempts are being made to impose Christianity.

The police are yet to lodge a complaint in this regard, while authorities have taken up the investigations.

Why should Christians worry. This is not the picture of Jesus. This is painted by a man called Pompeo Batony in the 17th Century. There is no actual picture of Jesus existing anywhere in the world. There was no photography during Jesus time , 2000 years ago. Irony is Jesus is painted differently in different pictures. In some pictures He looks like film star. So Jesus has no image. He is spirit. Worshipping the picture is idolatory. Jesus as a person is pure human . The spirit within him is of God. So Jesus is human by nature and God by spirit. You can not draw the picture of an omnipresent almighty God. Jesus is God and no present human has seen him as a person. Jesus was only 33 year old when he died. He can be only experienced spiritually. Deuteronomy 4:16-19 says 16"so that you do not become corrupt and make for yourselves an idol, an image of any shape, whether formed like a man or a woman, 17 or like any animal on earth or any bird that flies in the air, 18 or like any creature that moves along the ground or any fish in the waters below. 19 And when you look up to the sky and see the sun, the moon and the stars—all the heavenly array—do not be enticed into bowing down to them and worshiping things the Lord your God has apportioned to all the nations under heaven. "

Jesus is the mouth of God, God the Father is mind of God, Holy Spirit is the heart of God, or One God before the birth of Jesus. After the birth 3 persons in Father, Son Jesus and Holy Spirit but One God in Spirit so whom should we worship ? And All are created in Image of God with mouth, mind, heart and as holy scripture says you are gods! Sons or Children of the Most High ? Children means mother should be there, the mother of Jesus but Where is so called prophet and his god in this ?

India is a secular country. No images of any God or religion should be allowed in any government-related documents, places, buildings, offices, vehicles etc.. Police and the court should order that no prayer of any religion should be held in any of such govt establishments. Let us keep our religion within the four walls of our house and let it become purely a personal matter.

Ration cards and such other documents should have national emblems, not religious pictures. This is a deliberate mischief to arouse controversy.

The main issue seems to be the picture of "foreign God" appearing on the card. I believe that said picture or pictures should be printed on the bags used by the PDS authorities. This might deter the criminals both within and outside the department from stealing the ration meant for the poor citizens.

It’s a govt issued ration card and printed at govt authorized printing press, so who is responsible for this mishap?????…… It’s to malign DKS’s image since it’s the birth place of DKS and BJP is very much uncomfortable by DKS and BJP has failed in all attempts to rope him into BJP. DKS has recently been alledgly booked in money laundering case and investigation is on and in the past he has been booked by ED and raided by IT but none of the agencies could prove anything and let him go. This is another election smear campaign by BJP only for media.

The state government is BJP, not Congress.
