Hindu activists begin door-to-door campaign against halal products in Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Oct 20 (IANS): The Hindu activists here on Thursday started a door-to-door campaign in connection with boycotting halal certified products during the Diwali festivities.

The activists said that they were also planning to distribute 'halal jihad' handbook to the people to create awareness among them. The campaign will be taken up in Jayanagar and Basavanagudi Assembly constituencies of Bengaluru.

Jayanagar Assembly constituency is represented by Congress MLA Sowmya Reddy and Basavanagudi constituency is represented by BJP MLA Ravisubramanya. There are sensitive pockets, especially the Jayanagar locality and the police are closely monitoring the situation.

The campaign has been taken up by the Hindu Jana Jagruthi Samithi, Sri Rama Sena, Raastra Rakshana Pade and Vishva Hindu Sanatana Parishat.

The auto-rickshaws will be used to spread awareness messages through mikes, loud speakers, said the activists. They said that the meeting would be conducted with hotel owners, industrialists, shop owners and Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) traders not to go for halal certification.

Hindu organisations had given a call of boycott for halal certified products on Tuesday (October 18). The organisations claim that they were also taking up a campaign to get rid of halal certification. They have also alleged that through the halal certification on products, one religion is riding over another economically.

Hindu Jana Jagruthi Committee State Spokesperson Mohan Gowda had announced that the campaign against halal would be carried on till the end of Diwali festival.

“Halal is considered healthier because after slaughter, blood is drained from the animal's arteries, ejecting most toxins because the heart continues to pump for a few seconds after slaughter. In jhatka, not all the blood is drained, leaving the meat tougher and drier.”

No one is forcing muslims to eat non Halaal meat either. it is only an awareness campaign for Hindus so that the petty Hindu businessmen are not affected by Competetion. If muslims have to buy Halaal certified only and hindus can buy irrespective of such certificate then Hindu businessmen will suffer. Hindu businessman will have no choice but to get their products also Halaal certified so that they do not loose business. this will add to unnecessary certification cost that too when there are government bodies certifying products.

I believe it is not difficult to understand that there are working in a country where Islamic Law applies and Halal is mandatory. And it is duty of every person to follow the law of the country. So, it is their choice whether to eat meat or vegetable. If they so much reserved about Halal, if they want they can eat Pork if it is available in country they are working, so far pork is not certified as Halal anywhere in the world. And why would organization from India go and dictate Islamic country when they have law which says Halal is the only way meat should be processed.

This door to door campaign will have limited effect over a short period of time. Most effective way is to give a 50% discount coupon to all families to buy non-halaal mutton. Even better if they provide 2kgs of mutton free of cost to all families.

Unity is strength ✌️" Boss unity in diversity is strength but under Hindutva, divide and rule is in full swing. The majorities are now do not seem to be united in BJP ideology, which deviates from secular democratic norm. they are targeting certain community openly and deliberately. This not secular practice. Do not invite communal disharmony just for the sake of winning the elections. Highlight the achievements and economic disaster and communal disharmony being followed ever since BJP is in power.

Halal certification may be insisted on only by Muslim consumers of frozen meat/chicken and some by products and tinned stuffs. Christians and Hindu consumers will never insist on or depend on Halal stamp on the frozen or by products. But choosing or neglecting with or irrespective of any certification is individual choice and why third party is interfering in such generation old practice being in existence with public? This clearly indicates an open animosity & undue interference in civic society and should not be supported by public. Those who wish, let them do/follow on their own. Every religion follows some traditional, cultural or some practices followed from forefathers. Tomorrow these goons may try to disrupt other miner communities' way of living too. Hindutva is crossing all defined regulations and rules. This attitude needs to be dumped so vote for real political party

Flavian,, What is your take on Churches and Mosques that ask worshippers to buy only from Sellers from their Community.? That is legitimate and its okay is it. ? They are pious and not crossing any lines. The 'Goons' definition does not come into picture. Its only when Hindus do it, they are 'Goons' and they are crossing a line! Come on ! Lets be pragmatic!

Are churches and mosques getting govt’s official but underhand support to do these illegal activities????…No churches and mosques go door-to-door campaigning on broad daylight. This is not accepted fair way of conducting business and govt should be mindful of it and treat everybody as equal shareholders in its eyes. One side govt is issuing business licenses to Muslim traders and taking taxes from them and on other side using its goondas to campaign against thier business. You don’t decide for people, people are better educated and well informed to make thier own intelligent decisions. Just be pragmatic within your space for you not for others, no thank you.
