Bantwal, Oct 22: A woman lecturer, who works in the Mangalore University college, exhibited the highest form of humanitarian values by not boarding the train in which she was supposed to travel to Bengaluru, in order to save the life of a co-passenger, who suffered a cardiac arrest at Bantwal railway station itself.

Hemavathi, a resident of Nelyadi, who works as lecturer, is the Good Samaritan, who saved the life of a man at Bantwal railway station.

On the night of September 28, Hemavathi was waiting at Bantwal railway station in order to board the train to Bengaluru to visit her daughter. As the train arrived, a man had cardiac arrest and fell on the platform. Hemavathi did not board the train and went to the rescue of the man in distress. Though she requested other passengers for help, none showed interest. Later, she took the man in an auto rickshaw to B C Road hospital and got him first aid. Later, the man was shifted to Mangaluru for higher treatment.

On the following day morning, Hemavathi went to KMC hospital in Mangaluru, enquired about the well-being of the man who suffered cardiac arrest and proceeded to Bengaluru. The matter did not get highlighted at all. However, on October 17, Hemavathi brought her mother to Dr Padmanabha Kamath at KMC Mangaluru. Incidentally, the man who was rescued by Hemavathi had recovered and came for check up with Dr Padmanabha Kamath. The rescued man introduced Hemavathi as the great mother who saved his life. Dr Kamath immediately appreciated the humanitarian deed of Hemavathi and gave her a letter of appreciation.

I am too small a person to comment about the commendable service rendered by Hemavathi. I can't believe we still have people like her in our society today. With folded hands I thank you for what you have done. May God bless you for what you have done. Absolutely great feeling I am getting by reading what Hemavathi has done. She is no less than an angel.

I am a Muslim and I used to their house along with other Muslim friend every Sunday.. Dr. Satish was our cricket team captain, team included both Hindus and Muslims players, there was no difference among us, we had a great childhood time, unfortunately we don’t see such gatherings now, this dirty politician separated us.

Hello... ??? Now to speak our hearts out also we should take your permission or what ?? Accept it, or leave it - before 2014 things were not like today. Nobody was arguing Halal/Jhatka, Muslim Fish seller/Hindu fish seller, Mosque call for prayer/Hanuman Chalisa... do you want more listing ?? Do you think India is purchased by Modi ???

Did you take it too personally? Ok now listen, I mentioned a particular community favours it's own people which is understandable. BUT only a certain community has special importance to their own community and considers everyone else as "Kafirs".

Indeed a great noble deed. Surprising to note no other passenger came forward to help. Unfortunately same thing happens during a road accident. People shoot videos but don’t come forward to give first aid. Mrs. Hemavathi is indeed one in a thousand.

Unfortunate that the person who brought the patient in critical condition gone un-noticed. The second incident where she got identified was incidental. Otherwise good work at the cost of her commitment would have gone un-noticed. Because even influential people dont offer any help.

Dear Madam , A big salute and standing ovation to you for your exemplary work in distress and saving a life. A selfless act and presence of mind is well appreciated. Moreover getting recognized by the person who's life was saved and getting a letter of appreciation from KMC hospital is icing on the cake. You are a role model in the society . Students under your tutelage must be grateful to have you as their Lecturer/ mentor. @KMC - May I request your Management team to explore on imparting CPR technique at school/ college level . There are lot of cases of drowning incidents in the coastal belt. Students trained and well versed with CPR procedure will be a life line in the golden hour period. Salute to Mrs Hemavathi. Thankyou
