Has Dawood Ibrahim Fled to Saudi Arabia?
Daijiworld Media Network – New Delhi (SP)
New Delhi, May 7: There is information that Dawood Ibrahim, arguably the most wanted terrorist in the world now, has fled for his safe haven in Pakistani city of Karachi. Dawood, who had masterminded the 1993 Mumbai blasts, has been evading his arrest with the help of Pakistan. It is learnt that he fled from his home along with his close associate, Chhota Shakeel. In all likelihood he may seek refuge in Saudi Arabia.
After the American soldiers killed Osama Bin Laden, chief of Al Qaeda, in a covert operation, Pakistan is under immense pressure to clear itself of the tag of being a harbourer of terrorists. Pakistan is compelled to bear with frustration and discomfiture of the attack carried out by a foreign power on its soil. A number of countries have refused to believe that Pakistani army did not know that Laden was staying so close to their centre in Abbottabad. Even a number of people and organizations within that country have been questioning the credentials of the army and ISI in not being able to notice the presence of Osama in the country.
In all likelihood, Pakistan, it is thought, might try to devert the attention of its citizens and other countries and try to come out of the unenviable situation it is in, by planning attacks at various places within India. Anti-India tirade has been a popular pastime of Pakistani politicians to garner support since long. While Pakistan is wary of India’s anger at allowing the perpetrators of 26/11 attack in Mumbai to go unscathed, Dawood must also be wary of an attack by Indian army on his base, on the lines of the American operation, it is thought.
