Mangaluru Oct 26: In a bizarre case, what was presumed to be a mass suicide attempt by a family of four turned out to be an instance of food poisoning.

A family from Jeppu Bappal comprising Aravind Rao (52), Prabhavati (45), Sourabh (20) was not stepping out of the house for a long time on Wednesday, October 26. Their relatives Kaushik, Manjunath, and Renuka had the door lock of the house broke open and found them vomiting profusely. They were immediately rushed to a private hospital and admitted to ICU.

Meanwhile speculations were rife that the whole family had tried to kill itself. Allaying the rumours of suicide attempt, police commissioner N Shashi Kumar clarified that the four members of the family had suffered from food poisoning.

The couple and their children had taken ill after consuming a cereal based dessert and ice cream on Tuesday night.

The doctors have stated that the family is out of danger.

Looks like something is wrong. If they are sick what they were doing inside the house closing their door. Police should investigate this case properly.

Great news is that they are recovering and thanks to those who reached in time to help them. Hope it will be made known whether the food they ate is home made or purchased from somewhere.
