Puttur, Oct 27: An auto rickshaw driver was found drunk and asleep in his vehicle that was parked in the middle of the road who was then handed over to the police in Kallare on Puttur-Darbe road.

The auto driver was found drunk and asleep for more than an hour in front of the Kallare Dhanvantri Hospital which the public took note of and thought it posed some kind of danger before informing the Puttur traffic police. The police visited the spot and found the auto driver to be drunk.

The traffic police have booked a case of drink and drive against the auto driver and seized the vehicle, it is learnt.

    it is not a "moving violation". Anyway, how stupid could the cops be to book him. I am sure the jobless curious people hurdling around there , giving their two cents worth of worthless stuff, must have said something to the contrary and that is why it was seized. What a farce for nothing. As the famous saying goes " Let sleeping dogs lie.".

    O my god,have some mercy on this poor auto driver..He is drunk no doubt about it.But he is sleeping and not driving.It cannot be drink and drive.

    Thank God...he was. Drunk but not driving auto posing danger to travellers.In that respect he should be appreciated..... ದೀಪಾವಳಿ ಪ್ರಯುಕ್ತ ಎಣ್ಣೆ ಹಾಕಿ ಸ್ನಾನ ಮಾಡಿರಬೇಕು .

    Wrong parking yes -- But cannot include the charge of Drunk + Driving --Was Not caught driving-- was peacefully drunk / sleeping -- this cannot be a charge-

    Unfortunately so far no such so called intellectuals , rationalists and socialists have ever raised concerns on drinking and its bad effects. Only poor are the people among the society are affected by drinking and the liquor sellers are super rich. From independence, all pro-people political parties have been supportive to drinking.
