Bangalore: A Murder for Rs.5 !
Bangalore, May 8, DHNS: A youth in Bangalore who went on a killing spree, and even murdered one for just Rs 5, has landed in police net. In 14 days, his tally went up to three.
The Kamakshipalya police gave the name of the accused as Anand alias Mani (20), a resident of Kanakanagara, Pattegarpalya, at Vijayanagar.
The police were puzzled when three murder cases were reported in their locality in a fortnight.
All the three bodies bore similar head injuries and stab wounds. They were found between Vijayanagar and Mudalapalya in the Pete Chennappa Industrial area.
The police—after a careful examination of the bodies of Krishna (31), Dinesh (35) and Basavaraju (43)—concluded that a sole individual was behind the heinous killings. Further probe and cell phone details helped the police zero in on Anand who confessed to the crime.
Anand, from Hosur in Tamil Nadu, landed in Bangalore a year ago. He lives with his mother and two sisters. He worked as a wireman for a cable-laying contractor for some time. He identified a secluded place and then attacked his first victim (Krishna).
Killing spree
Anand grabbed Rs 1,500 and a mobile phone from Krishna. When he went scot-free, he went on killing two more men. Anand got just Rs 5 from one of the victims, said an investigating officer.
The remorseless Anand had sold the victim’s mobile phone to a fruit vendor, which helped the cops to solve the murder cases.
