London, Oct 27: The Konkani lovers of UK witnessed a spectacular event Konkani Sambram 2 at Harrow Arts Centre on October 23 under the able leadership of SKA London. The musical extravaganza swayed the music lovers with the beautiful melodies and the gripping drama ‘Sikeram Driver’ captivated the hearts of Konkani drama lovers.

Konkani Sambram 2 raised curtains in the afternoon and Joseph Sequeira beautifully conducted the stage programme. Joseph Mathias the guest of honour addressed the gathering and thanked the organizers and the Konkani audience for their great support. Dony Correa began the musical programme with a bang and took charge of the entire event. His amazing shayaris, powerful voice and unique style of compering left the audience spellbound. He was equally complimented by his talented wife Asha Correa in ably handling the event. Velita Lobo, Vaibhav Kamat, Dealle D'Souza, Joseph Mathias sang beautiful melodious songs and entertained the crowd and were at their best. They were accompanied by Ancita D'Souza, Lanita and Delisha Vaz, and Dony and Asha Correa. The musical part ended with a beautiful Medley and Dekhni. Local dancers enthralled the crowd through their beautiful choreography and well synchronized steps. Steffy Martis, Sonal Mendonca and Team Outlaws presented the dances along with their teams.

The second session of Konkani Sambram 2 presented the classic masterpiece of Mic Max's most acclaimed award winning drama 'Sikeram Driver'. The troupe of amateur artistes from Dubai under the able leadership of Dony Correa left no stone unturned in mesmerising the audience through their powerful and brilliant acting skills. Dony Correa's role as Sikeram was extraordinary and he held the whole act together through his magnificent dialogue delivery and witty humour. Asha Correa lived the character and gave life to her role. Cynthia's acting was beautiful and real. Melwin as Annu and Rohan as Apli had the perfect comedy timing and left the audience in the roar of laughter. Godwin and Ramcy put up an excellent show and their efforts definitely deserved a great applause for preparing the role in just 10 days due to visa rejection of the original artistes.

Deona Correa and Delisha Correa need a special mention for handling the music and light effects along with Rohan and Melwin for the first time. The music and lighting of the drama was top notch along with the perfect acting and brilliant direction. Sikeram Driver has carved a niche in the hearts of every one present at Harrow Arts Centre and will be remembered for years to come. This was proved by the roar of laughter, a tear of emotion and the involvement of the audience in every dialogue. The stage setting was professionally presented by Shaun D’Souza and makeup by Mamta. Shobha Mathias supported the entire team and handled the back stage. Dony Correa and his team were massively applauded and appreciated by the crowd. Konkani Sambram 2 succeeded in providing complete entertainment to the crowd.

At the end, Joseph Mathias along with Dony Correa felicitated Sunil D'Cunha, president of SKA London for their tremendous effort in presenting Konkani Sambram 2. A delicious Mangalurean traditional dinner was served to all present to wind up the evening. 

Brian Mathis, proprietor of ‘The Bell on the Green’ was the main sponsor of the event who was felicitated for his generosity and support towards Konkani Sambram 2.
