T-Shirt, medal unveiled for Niveus Mangalore Marathon 2022

Mangaluru, Oct 27: The Mangalore Runners Club along with Canara Institutions on Thursday, October 27 unveiled the race day T Shirt and finisher’s medal ahead of the upcoming Niveus Mangalore Marathon 2022 which will be held November on 6 at Mangala Stadium.

The chief guests were MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, and MLA Vedavyas Kamath, who unveiled the race day T-shirts and medals along with the other dignitaries on the dais, Ranganath Bhat, honorary secretary, Canara Association, Shishir Shetty , chief growth officer, Niveus Solutions, Jithesh Rai, store manager, Decathlon, Prashant Shet , partner, S L Shet Jewellers, S Murugesh, senior manager- HR & Admin, KIOCL, Abhilash Dominic, race director, Niveus Mangalore Marathon 2022 and Amitha D’Souza, president, Mangalore Runners Club.

The event T shirt is of canary yellow t-shirt with a black rimmed collar. The color of the t shirt stands for commitment, energy, freshness, and positivity that the sun depicts in people’s lives. The medal is a work of art. It has the logo of the event, logo of MRC and Yakshagana pose embossed on it. Every finisher of the event will receive this beautiful medal

Amitha D’Souza welcomed everyone to the event. She specifically recalled how Vedavyas Kamath had supported the team during the initial days of the event and helped the team to dream big. Abhilash Dominic briefed the gathering about the upcoming event and the progress so far. “There will be four categories of race, Half Marathon, 10K, 5K and 2K Gammath Run - to cater to everyone from a beginner to a seasoned runner. The event will take the participants through the unique route from Mangala Stadium at the heart of the city, through the highway and then to a beautiful view and later the beach side. This beautiful route is something that will be unique to Mangaluru and will provide a great experience to the runners. While the objective of the event is to promote healthy living, it also aims to put Mangaluru on the world marathon map by having it organized year on year in a professional way. The idea is also to popularize Mangaluru around the world and attract tourists to the city. The event will also raise funds for the Chetana Child Development Centre, which cares for specially abled children,” he said.

In line with organizers commitment to a clean Mangaluru City, MRC has partnered with TIPS sessions to make this event a Zero Waste Event.

MLA Vedavyas Kamath, in his address, mentioned about various sporting facilities coming up in city. He was enthusiastic and very supportive to MRC for organizing this running event. He urged the organizers to make this event an annual event and extended his and district official support for the event.
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel wished that event be a great success. He thanked all the main sponsors for supporting this event.

The event was hosted by the Canara institutions, one of the event sponsors. Canara Institutions is a prestigious group, with a noble vision to prepare educationally strong and culturally vibrant students for higher learning. The successful event was closed with a vote of thanks by Amar, secretary of MRC. Amar thanked the dignitaries for supporting not only in terms of money but also by spending time on the event. The event was compered by Dr Rashmi D’Souza.
