Kuwait, Oct 29: Tulu Koota Kuwait (TKK) which is celebrating 23 years of active presence in Kuwait presented 'Tulu Parba' on Friday October 28 at American International School, Maidan Hawally, Kuwait. The highlights of the programme was 'Bharatha Varsha', a grand dance drama performed by over 180 artistes on stage live to depict the contributions of key personalities in commemoration of 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' to boost the national spirit and Tulu drama 'Adhyaksher' performed by a team of guest artistes of Ranga Taranga, Kaup from India.
The audiences were welcomed by compere of the evening Dr Priya Harish followed by the Kuwait and Indian National anthem. The dazzling evening commenced with the lighting of the lamp by chief guest Dr Thukaram Poojari (president- Rani Abbakka Tulu Museum), guest of honour Rayan Fernandes (director- Sevedhama, Rehabilitation Center), management and advisory Committee members. It followed by the souvenir release and a classical welcome dance by Swastika Bharathanatyam dance academy, choreographed by Dr Vaishnavi Swaminathan.
The charismatic president, Sanath Kumar Shetty in his address to the gathering welcomed all guests, sponsors and members. He gave a brief report on the achievements and activities of the association during the year. He also thanked all the sponsors, well-wishers, committee members and volunteers for their support and contribution towards the success of all the activities of association. Merit awards and scholarship was presented to the capable students and they were honoured along with their parents.
As a token of respect and appreciation for their work TKK members Dr Preethi Shetty, Jagadeeshwar Shanubhaug and guest compere Dr Priya Harish were felicitated on this occasion. Further the sponsors for the event were also honored with flower bouquet and memento as a token of gratitude for their support to Tulu Koota Kuwait. James Paul, Satish Acharya and Akbar travels were honoured for their contribution for the event.
Chief guest Dr Thukaram Poojari, guest of honour Rayan Fernandes were honoured with traditional cap, shawl, garland, fruits and memento. They spoke few words in appreciation and also about their mission. TKK contributed Rs one lac each for their mission.
‘Bharata Varsha' a unique cultural show, as promised, turned out to be a show that displayed the rich cultural heritage different states of India to fill every Indian with pride. It was a tribute to Indian freedom fighters and soldiers. This magnificent show conceptualized and directed by Suresh Salian was written by Tharendra P Shettigar, Recording and Editing done by Jagadeeshwara Shanubogue, Back Stage Coordination by Vanitha VK, Babitha Shetty, Sushma Manoj, Ashwitha Poojary, Dinesh Ram, Shudan Shettigar, Suresh Kunder, Anil Britto, Vishu Shetty, Dushyanth Shetty, Jackson D’Sa, Veera D’Souza. It was presented by more than 180 artists including TKK members. It showcased more than 30 different amalgamations of scenes, cultures, occupation and historical legends. Some of them included religious blessings to soldiers, folk dances, historical brave warriors, different dance forms of different religions etc. The senior members of committee extended their full support in coordination at stage and during the rehearsals. Suresh Salian and Tharendra P Shettigar were honoured on this occasion in appreciation of their contribution.
TKK welfare presentation on the screen was presented by welfare Officer Vijay Wilson Albuquerque. Vote of thanks was rendered by the general secretary Roshan Prashanth Quadras.
The main attraction of the day remained the Tulu drama 'Adhyaksher' by the 'KaupRanga Taranga' group led by Samaj Ratna, Leeladhar Shetty. A team of well-known artistes including Sharath Kumar Uchila, Prasanna Kumar Bailoor, Sujith Shetty, Sandeep K Shetty, Deepak Ganiga, Harish Kotian, Merwyn Aranha, Praveen B Poojary, Raguraja Poojary, Rajesh Kottari, Shivaprakash Poonja, Srinivasa Acharya, Yashawanth Poojary, Pooja M Poojary, Bhagyashree R Kamath, Sowmya P Poojary presented the super hit drama. It was directed by Sharath Uchila, written by Prasanna Shetty Bailur and music was provided by Deepaka Ganiga Malali. The audience went into roars of laughter and sat through the end of the drama enjoying every bit of the show. TKK felicitated all the artists with memento.
The programme was well coordinated by the cultural secretary Manoj Shetty. The sound and lightings were provided by Waves Events & Rentals Kuwait, slides by Jagdeesh Shanobouge and Aravind Bhandari, Stage setting by Ronald D'Souza and Satish Acharya, make up by Shaji Sebastian, Gopal, Libin, Deepu and Rena Raj and souvenir artwork designed by Manoj Kumar. The event was well compered by anchor Dr Priya Harish and Harish Bhandari. Audience were also given snack boxes at the end of the event. Overall, it was a mind blowing programme after a long break due to pandemic.
