Mangaluru: BJP leaders running away from taking decision on Surathkal toll issue- Khader

Mangaluru, Nov 2: Legislator U T Khader on Wednesday charged that members of Parliament and MLAs of the BJP are running away from taking responsibility over the Surathkal toll gate issue.

When asked about Surathkal toll gate issue, Khader said, “Being in opposition we need to expose the faliures of the government. During Oscar Fernandes tenure there was no Hejamadu toll gate. It was the MP who gave dates every now and then over the removal of toll gate. Assurance was given by the government not by us. Why is there no measure taken to conduct meeting with central minister to resolve the issue. Local MLA and MP need to follow up and sort it out.”

When asked about Nalin’s statement about revealing Siddarammiah's corruption file, Khader said, “for the last two years Nalin has been saying the same thing. Other than speaking Nalin does not do anything. In order to hide the government’s failures, the BJP is creating confusion in the minds of the people.”

He said, “during the Kempegowda programme, what was the need to speak about Tippu? What is the connection between Tippu and Kempegowda? Nalin does not know anything to speak about Kempegowda so he had to speak about Tippu which was totally irrelevant in the Kempegowda programme,” said Khader.

State government needs to take measures over delay in results and start counselling for admission to para medical courses. Delay in results has hampered the admission of students. Kerala has announced the results early and the students from Kerala come to Mangaluru and book their seats. While students from the district need to wait for long for their results and it will be difficult for them to get seats which will be already filled by students from Kerala, he added.
