Udupi: 16 minors sorting fish at Malpe port rescued in joint operation

Udupi, Nov 3: As many as 16 children sorting fish were rescued from Malpe fishing port in the wee hours on Thursday November 3.

The joint operation was conducted by the district administration, zilla panchayat Udupi, women and children department, district children protection unit, labour department, social welfare department, city municipality, public education department, police department, children’s helpline, Udupi district Nagarika Seva trust, and Hosabelaku organization Manipal.

The children were of Koppal and Davanagere origin. They were rescued from the port and handed over to children welfare committee Nittoor.

Suitable rehabilitation for the children is provided by Ronald Furtado, president of children welfare committee and members of the committee.
