Kasargod: Gang rape of 17-year-old-girl, two out of 13 arrested

Kasargod, Nov 3: Women’s police station personnel here have arrested two accused including the friend of the victim in connection with the gang rape of a 17-year-old girl that occurred in Vidyanagar police station limits here.

It is said that 11 other accused are absconding. A case is registered under POCSO Act.

The arrested accused are Nellikatte resident Arafat (23) and Talangare resident Mohammed Sharif (28).

Five cases are registered at the Kasargod women’s police station in this connection against 13 accused.

Arafat had pretended to be in love with the victim and had given false assurance of marrying her. He escorted the girl to a lodge in Kasargod on July 31, raped her and sent her back. He later handed over the girl to 12 other men. The girl informed her mother about the gruesome crime who in turn lodged a police complaint at the women’s police station.
