Sarajevo, May 11 (IANS/EFE) Spanish actress Penelope Cruz will arrive in the Bosnian capital of Sarajevo in September for the filming of "Venuto al Mondo" (Into the World) to be directed by Sergio Castellitto.
Bosnian daily Avaz said the Oscar-winning actress would remain two months in Sarajevo.
Cruz will play the role of Gemma, a single mother who accompanies her teenage son to present-day Sarajevo, where his father died during the Bosnian conflict.
A representative of the production company said Castellitto has arrived in Bosnia to look for locations for the film.
Cruz earlier said her role in the new Castellitto film would be one of the most important of her life. She previously worked with the director in the 2004 film "Non Ti Muovere" (Don't Move).
The Spanish actress had won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for 2009's "Vicky Cristina Barcelona". She was also named Best European Actress in the Jameson People's Choice Awards for her role in "Non Ti Muovere".
Both "Non Ti Muovere" and "Venuto al Mondo" are adaptations of novels by Margaret Mazzantini, Castellitto's wife and one of Italy's most popular writers.
