Bantwal, Nov 9: The mortal remains of Suribail resident Samad who was murdered in connection with the ganja business and its addiction has been handed over to his family members.
Mangaluru forensic laboratory and K S Hegde Medical College Hospital’s Mahabaleshwar Shetty and team conducted the post-mortem.
Details of the incident:
Suribail resident Samad (19) was murdered on November 1. Autorickshaw driver Aboobacker, a resident of Kattepuni near Salethore was said to be an accused was arrested by the police. He was produced in the court this evening and is likely to be remanded to police custody for further investigation.
Samad and Adrama were friends and ganja addicts. They also were running an immoral business. As Samad’s family got wind of this, they sent Samad to Bengaluru for work. However, Adrama did not want Samad who was also a drug addict to go to Bengaluru. Therefore, Adrama had objected several times to his going.
Meanwhile, Adrama urged Samad to come back to hometown and Samad had returned on November 1. Samad and Adrama had gone to the hill in Adrama’s autorickshaw. What transpired between them on the hill is likely to be known after the investigation.
As per preliminary investigation and Adrama’s statement, both of them had fought after consuming ganja over Samad’s return to Bengaluru. They had both slept on the hill later. Adrama had allegedly poured kerosene that was kept in Samad’s autorickshaw, set him ablaze and killed him.
This matter came to light as Adrama had told about it to his relative. Adrama’s family members believed that he had gone to Bengaluru.
Samad’s dead body was examined on the spot. Additional SP Kumar Chandra, rural police inspector T D Nagaraj, SI Harish and staff were present.
