Puttur: KSRTC conductor’s presence of mind – Police arrest bag snatchers after four months

Daijiworld Media Network – Puttur (MS)

Puttur, Nov 14: A conductor displayed exemplary presence of mind and detective skills and identified the accused who had robbed gold and cash from the bag of a woman passenger four months ago and handed them over to the police through the officials of the state transport corporation. This incident occurred on November 12 at Kempegowda bus station of Bengaluru.

On July 10, the KSRTC bus was on its way with the same conductor to Mangaluru from Bengaluru. When the bus was stopped at Uppinangady, two people got down and never returned. Though the driver and conductor waited for them for some time, they did not return. Then the bus went to Mangaluru without those two passengers as per the directions of the KSRTC depot.

Later, it came to light that cash and gold was stolen from a woman passenger seated next to the two people who got down at Uppinangady. A police complaint was also filed by the woman who lost her valuables.

On November 12, the same bus with the same conductor was ready to go to Mangaluru from Bengaluru at around 9.45 pm. Conductor Ashok Jadhav was inspecting the trip sheet. Two people had already boarded the bus. Jadhav got suspicious and recalled the incident that occurred four months ago and identified that they were the same people who alighted from the bus at Uppinangady and vanished.

Jadhav informed the matter to the bus depot officials, who in turn alerted the Upparpet police. When the police took the duo to the police station and interrogated them, they confessed to the crime that occurred in the same bus four months ago.

Managing director V Anbukumar appreciated the alertness and presence of mind of conductor Ashok Jadhav.
