Kaup: 65-year-old scooter rider hit by car on NH-66, dies

Kaup, Nov 15: A scooter rider was killed on the national highway 66 after his vehicle that he was riding was hit by a car near Koppalangady community hall on Monday November 14.

The deceased is identified as Farooq (65), a resident of Kothalakatte in Uliyaaragoli at Kaup.

Farooq was commuting in his vehicle from Uchila towards Mangaluru when the accident occurred.

As soon as the car hit his vehicle, Farooq was thrown off his scooter due to the impact of the accident. He suffered serious injury on his head and was rushed to a private hospital in Udupi via ambulance. Farooq died as he did not respond to the treatment.

Kaup police visited the accident spot and conducted an inspection. The police have registered a case and are investigating.

Farooq was working as a driver and was also working as a spare driver for a fish lorry. He is survived by his wife, four sons and four daughters.

    We lost many lives in U-Turn junction near Community hall. Concerned authority must declare such spots in highway as Accident Zone and have proper sign board/barricades to reduce the vehicle speed.

    Indians lacks driving ethics so lot of accidents and road designs too compliments more accidents!Everyday I avoid more than 10 accidents on road with 2 wheelers alone.

    These scooter owners ,cross in the small gaps of the highway divider to go to the other side in these areas which is very risky. Police should fine them rigorously. May his soul rest in peace
