Muscat : Grand ‘Family Funtertainment’ Marks Muscat Mogaveers’ 21st Anniversary

Muscat, May 17: ‘Muscat Mogaveers’ celebrated their 21st anniversary with ‘Family Funtertainment’ recently, at the Grand Hall of Al Falaj Hotel.
Lokesh V Puthran, proprietor, M/s. Puthran Chartered Accountants, Dubai, and also the president of UAE Mogaveers, was the chief guest for the evening.
Prakash Naik thanked the chief guest and his family for gracing the occasion and gave a befitting welcome address. The programme was inaugurated by lighting of the traditional lamp by Puthran and the senior members of Muscat Mogaveers.
Thereafter, the chief guest was honoured with a floral bouquet, shawl, and a beautiful memento.
In his address, Puthran expressed his happiness at being a part of the event and appreciated the commendable efforts of the Muscat Mogaveers over the past two decades in bringing about unity and promoting community welfare.
Dr Shekar Salian and Dr Madhav Hejamady spoke about the responsibility of the younger generation towards the society at large and the community in particular.
They said that since hundreds of years Mogaveera community has been treated as a minority community or a backward class as they were purely dependent on fishing and agriculture for their livelihood but the situation has changed now due to education and availability of various new opportunities. They urged the youth should show more interest in community programmes and to show their solidarity.
Various entertainment programmes began with a prayer dance ‘Bhagyada Laxmi Baramma’ superbly performed by a team of young girls. Divya Ashok Kotian, who was a finalist at the ‘Sa Re Ga Ma’ Gulf edition and ‘Muscat Idol’ singing competition, rendered a medley of Hindi songs in her melodious voice.
Little children presented a fancy dress show enacting various characters and this was followed by a rib-tickling hilarious musical skit ‘Bhagyada Biriyani’. The skit was scripted and directed by Prakash Naik who also performed in it.
The programme continued with another foot tapping dance from the film ‘Band Baaja Baarat’ by children in the age group of 8-10 years. Praveen Suvarna, fondly known as ‘Sonu Nigam of Muscat’, rendered a Kannada song ‘Anisuthide Yako Indu’ in his melodious voice which was well appreciated by the audience.
This was followed by six seasoned artists dancing to the ever green Hindi number ‘Shola Jo Bhadke Dil Mera Dhadke’. Next, it was ‘Sheela ki Jwani’ which had six young girls giving a sizzling performance.
A sumptuous three course dinner with variety of mouth watering dishes was served later During the dinner session, young artists were presented with gifts in appreciation and as an encouragement.
All major sponsors, viz. Bhuvanendra Kidiyoor (Main), Harish Kotian, Girish Kanchan, Ashish Kumar (gold), Praveen Salian (silver), Koni Prakash Naik, Mahabala Mendon, Santosh Kotian (bronze) and support sponsors: Dr. Madhav Hejamady and Ashit Salian. were honoured by the chief guest during the felicitation ceremony with floral bouquets, shawls, and a memento for their generous support. Sponsors felicitation ceremony was conducted by Tharanath Kotian.
The programme concluded with an electrifying and power packed ‘Pili’ (tiger) dance performed by Shesh Kanchan, Sujith J K, Sandeep, Sharath, Prashanth, Shailesh, and Suresh.
Vatsala R Naik and Shesha Kanchan systematically compered the whole programme. Co-ordinators for the entertainment programme were Naina R Mendon, Anita T Kotian, and Vatsala R Naik. The vote of thanks was proposed by Yuvaraj Salian.
At the end, a game of ‘Tambola’ was played. In the raffle draw, lucky Mogaveera Dr Ranjan walked away with a 32” LCD TV and several other members also won attractive prizes.
