Udupi: MLA Raghupati Bhat writing to PM against Hejamady toll collection is joke - Ramesh Kanchan

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi

Udupi, Nov 27: Udupi district Block Congress president Ramesh Kanchan slammed MLA Raghupati Bhat's comment on the collection of tolls at Hejamady toll gate as a joke.

He said Raghupati Bhat's comment that he would write to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Member of Parliament against the collection of toll at Hejamady which had doubled following the closure of the Surathkal toll gate.

"If Raghupati Bhat was truly concerned about people paying double the toll charges at Hejamady following the closure of Surathkal toll gate he should have staged a protest by bringing together all the MLAs, MLCs and MP of the district. The collection of toll at Hejamady can be likened to daylight robbery against the common man. Raghupathy Bhat's comment lacks seriousness," he said.

Kanchan said people have been hit hard following the pandemic, rising unemployment and rise in prices of essential commodities. He said by doubling the toll charges at Hejamady toll gate after the closure of Surathkal toll gate at this juncture has pinched people's pockets considerably.

He said the BJP governments at the Centre and in the state are following anti-people's policies due to such initiatives.

Kanchan said instead of writing a letter or tweeting or releasing press statements that are meant to gain public sympathy the MLA should have jumped to the field and protested against such a move.

Very well said Mr.Ramesh Kanchan. The less said about BJP MLA the better. Udupi road conditions are enough to understand the sorry state of affairs of Udupi Taluk under the present regime. Mr. Ramesh Kanchan please visit Kannarpady Balaji Layout near St.Mary School. The patch of road from past 20 years has not been done. All heavy vehicles plying and we are paying tax.

Very True Mr. Viraj. Udupi roads are are really in very bad conditions. MLA and government busy pampering/ felicitating the film industry personnel. Pramod Madhwaraj is the best choice who at least cares for the development of Udupi and well being of the people.

MP's and MLA's of our districts have no guts to talk to PM and central govt. Also they cant communicate in English or Hindi. How we can expect they keep our problems in front of pm/ central govt when they can't communicate properly. USELESS MPs of our district, also shame on us who have elected them.

Nobody should underestimate Shri Raghupathi Bhatji.., he is a smart & low profile very powerful leader among BJP leaders..., Be it joke or whatever... all that matters is that Toll must be restored back..to previous fee. That's it .. nothing more.. nothing less..., No politics please ... politics means one upmanship result in people suffer... (Let this toll charge be exempt from 40% )

Many don't expect him to get the ticket again & he could be history soon. Especially since a part-hopper is already fishing & manouvering. While the party remains highly popular, folks like BL Santosh will surely replace any corrupt dodo. Most recently, shockingly, it took 2 weeks for the careless local admin to stop a drinking-water-main-pipeline-burst that flooded the Perampalli main road for so long, right beside the top star-hotel in town! Infact, the condition of the road (among others) is regretable. Meanwhile, the double toll joke on the common helpless people continues. Perhaps they shift the public hartal's location too.
