Mangaluru: Father sentenced to prison for beating daughter on head

Mangaluru, Nov 28: A father who beat his daughter on the head was sentenced to prison by the city court.

Joyi K, resident of Puduvettu village of Beltangady taluk is the person sentenced by the court. On May 17, 2021, Joyi had beaten his elder daughter on the head with his hand as she did not drink the medicine. A case was filed in Dharmasthala police station in this regard.

ASI K Chandrashekhara had investigated the matter and submitted chargesheet to the court. Justice Manjula Itti of additional district and sessions court (FTSC-1) sentenced accused Joyi to one year in prison and fined Rs 1000.

Special public prosecutor Sahandevi argued for the prosecution.

    Now how will the daughter take her medicine. She will go without it if she doesn't want to take - may be someone pour it down! Father will not be there for a year in any case, even to provide food for her. May be the prison authorites send her his food.
