Udupi: CMC officials seize single-use plastics from person, fined Rs 5,000

Udupi, Nov 30: Health department officials raided a vehicle belonging to a person named Iqbal selling banned plastic to shopkeepers here on Nov 30. They seized 75 kg of single-use plastic and slapped a fine of Rs 5,000 on him.

Mulki municipal council environment engineer, senior health officer, sanitary supervisor and civic workers took part in the operation.

The council mayor has warned of cancelling the trade license of traders if they are found using banned plastic.
