Brahmavar: Auto rickshaw driver falls into stone quarry while feeding fish, dies

Brahmavar, Dec 2: An auto rickshaw driver, who went to feed fish in a stone quarry, accidentally fell into it and died at Yadthadi in the taluk on November 30.

The deceased is identified as Santhosh Shetty (49), a resident of Achladi. He was working as an auto rickshaw driver at Garike Math. As a side profession he used to do Katla fish production in a stone quarry.

On November 30 morning, Santhosh had taken a passenger but did not return home till late. When his family members searched, his body was found in the stone quarry. It is said that he used to feed the fishes in the stone quarry as he was doing Katla fish business. He must have fallen accidentally according to his family members.

Santhosh was a mild person and was very popular. He was the sole breadwinner of his family. He is survived by wife and two young sons.

A case in this connection is filed in Brahmavar police station.

    RIP! People who do not know swimming should never go near water bodies! Schools in rural areas should make swimming classes compulsory for young students!!

    Yes....very true....Govt should direct the management of all the schools and colleges to dedicate one hour everyday ...for learning life saving skills like swimming/karate/drill/exercises/diet/ yoga etc. Not just pressurize the students to study maths/physics/chemistry/history and blah blah........May the departed soul rest in peace..

    Agree, students should be encouraged to indulge in more and more outdoor activities alongside nature and curtail time spending on computers, smartphones etc. to develop holistic health!! Only concentrating on studies and bookish knowledge and big degrees are of no much use!! Nowadays, nutritionists have overtaken medical doctors as people are coming to know that good health can be attained by proper nutrition and even many chronic diseases can be reversed by proper nutrition without going to doctors and taking chemical poisons for a lifetime!!
