Udupi: St Anthony’s Church, Sasthan  wins 'Natal Sobhan -2022'

Udupi, Dec 14: St Anthony’s Church, Sasthan emerged the winner at the Girija Healthcare & Surgicals presents ‘Natal Sobhan 2022’, while St Mary’s English Medium School, Kannarpady and United Stars secured the second and third places respectively.

The second edition of 'Natal Sobhan' was organised by Daijiworld Udupi, Kishoo Enterprises, Uzward Konkani Fortnightly in association with St Mary’s English medium School, Kannarpady.

Fr Steevan Fernandes, director, youth commission diocese of Udupi and Fr Royson Fernandes, editor, Uzwaad fortnightly along with Kevin Rodrigues, manager, operations Daijiworld Udupi inaugurated the programme by unveiling the logo of the competition.

On the occasion, Fr Royson Fernandes, editor, Uzwaad said, “We might get a question that what is the need to spread a message even today. We talk about the birth of Jesus. Son of God took birth in the world and lived like humans. Now, the question is when the humans become real humans. Our Christmas celebrations becomes meaningless if we do not live like humans upholding the humanity. To spread the message of love and peace Daijiworld Udupi, Kishoo Enterprises has organized this program. Christmas is the feast of love and peace. I thank all the donors for their support.”

Fr Steevan Fernandes, director, youth commission diocese of Udupi on the occasion said, “I thank Daijiworld Udupi for their efforts. Many competitions and entertainment programmes will be organised all over during Christmas season, but it should not be just for entertainment we need to inculcate the Christmas message of love and peace in our lives too.”

H M Pernal, editor, KIttaal.com, Wilson Kateel, renowned poet and Stany Bela, production in-charge Daijiworld 24/7 were the judges for the competition.

Speaking about the experiences of judging the competition Stany Bela, production in-charge Daijiworld 24/7 said, “Last year also we had participated in the competition. We were expecting more teams this year to participate. All the participating teams have worked hard and performed very well. I congratulate all the teams for their participation. All of us have liked the performances and I wish this type of competition will continue in upcoming years also. These competitions give stage to many hidden talents and we would never know if some child artist who performed today would shine on a bigger stage tomorrow. I appreciate the involvement of the priests in today's performances.”

Fr Sunil D’Silva, parish priest, St Antony Church, Sasthan on the occasion said. “There were many teams registered earlier but only few turned up. This is a very busy season so it becomes a very difficult task to get trained artists, even though we have trained the available ones with utmost efforts. I congratulate all the teams for their participation and also Daijiworld Udupi, Kishoo Enterprises for organising this event. It is a great task to combine dance, singing and skit all into one, but all the teams have succeeded in making this happen. Long live Daijiworld.”    

Speaking on the occasion, Ravindra K Shetty, managing director, Girija Group of Concerns said,“We are associated from the past three years. Daijiworld is a very good channel with its truthful and unbiased news stories. I had tears in my eyes while watching a performance. This is a very good programme which gives a good message to the public. People should support such programmes. In upcoming years many more teams should participate in this programme.”

Fr Johnson Sequiera, Principal, St Mary’s English medium School, Kannarpady addressing the gathering said, “I thank Daijiworld Udupi and all its staff members for organising this event in our school. The Christmas message is delivered through various performances.”

Sharing the experience of participating in the competition, Dolphy Mascharenhas said, “I thank Daijiworld Udupi for providing this opportunity. Everyone has participated in this competition without any bars.This is a good opportunity to think about Christ’s birth, and also about our families. The message which we gave through our performances will reach every corner of the world.”

Kishoo Barkur, proprietor, Kishoo Enterprises distributed the mementos to the dignitaries. Kevin Rodrigues, operations manager, Daijiworld Udupi proposed the vote of thanks. Jovita D'Lima compered the programme.

The event was supported by Lancy Enterprises (Allu’s Sounds and Lights), Udupi.
