Udupi Catholic diocese celebrates Christmas with media fraternity

Udupi, Dec 16: “God lives where there is love, peace and harmony,” said bishop of Udupi diocese Dr Issac Lobo.

He was speaking after presiding over a Christmas get together of media friends at the auditorium of the church of the mother of sorrows, Udupi on Friday, December 16.

“The picture of a crib comes to our minds when we speak about Christmas. The crib proclaims the message of peace and love. The true meaning of love is sacrifice. Jesus has shown the true meaning of sacrifice and love by taking birth in the crib and dying on the cross. We need to live with love in society as brothers and sisters breaking the barriers of religion and caste,” he said.

Sharmila, senior judge and secretary of district legal services authority, chief guest said that the Christmas feast has proclaimed the message of peace and love to the world. ” Let us all try to live according to the message,” she said.

Convener and co-convener of Udupi Patrika Bhavana, Ajith Aradi and Ankith Shetty were felicitated on the occasion.

Udupi district spokesperson B Manjunath, Working Journalists Association president Rajesh Shetty, diocese chancellor Fr Roshan D’ Souza and Milagres cathedral rector Fr Valerian Mendonca were present.

Udupi diocese public relations officer Fr Denis D’Sa welcomed. Media convener Michael Rodrigues proposed a vote of thanks. Uzwad newspaper editor Fr Royson Fernandes compered the programme. Federal Bank provided help for the programme.
