Udupi: 120-mtr long floating bridge inaugurated at Malpe beach

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (MS)

Udupi, Dec 26: MLA Raghupati Bhat inaugurated floating bridge at Malpe beach on Sunday December 25.

Bhat said that except Kerala, Malpe beach is the only one that has floating bridge which will increase the joy of tourists.

Former minister Pramod Madhwaraj and SP Akshay Hake were the chief guests. A similar bridge was inaugurated in May but it got broken in just two days due to technical fault.

A team of experts from Kerala and Karnataka visited the beach and checked the capacity and strength of the new hanging bridge. The bridge is scientifically tested and has withstood even Mandaus cyclone. So the district administration gave the go ahead to begin the operations for tourists from Sunday.

The new bridge is 120 meter long and 3.5 meter wide and has railing system on both sides for safety. More than 100 people can walk at a time. The bridge is manned by 15 life guards, 50 lifebuoys and a boat at the end of the bridge. Everyone needs to wear life jacket before boarding the floating bridge. The bridge is certified by HN Marine of Mumbai.

Partners of the contract organization Shekar Puthran, Dhananjay Kanchan and Sudesh Shetty were present.

If a bridge can be shaken/ sabotaged .. then the ( construction) conditions can be judged .... It is supposed to Withstand sea waves .. bad weather etc .. Overall fancy project ..for some publicity .. Very many places no money to even pay for basic necessities.. Recently a boy died of snake bite waiting for hours to get medical emergency service..

Beware of gangs who may come & shake the bridge on purpose in order to bring bad name to govt and fulfill their hidden hate ideology. Good move to keep 50 lifeguards employed on bridge.

So this time MLA Raghupati Bhat did not take the risk of an accidental sea bath. He cut the ribbon from the beach itself. The certifications be damned.

Why they have not invited to inaugurate this dangerous floating as well as Looting bridge. My advise is 24×7 swimmers and life savings volunteers must be there to take care. I hope almost all insurance companies are opened their branch outlets near the bridge. If any one wants to enjoy on the floating bridge, they must inform their family members about their visit.
