May 26 (Deccan Chronicle): He’s the quintessence of masculine charm and pure hunk sex-appeal, but at heart the drool-inspiring actor is a true ‘family man’.
Getting actor Suriya to open up is not an easy task.
A million places to go to, fans to please, kids to take care of and scripts to hear, yet when his gaze meets yours, you know he has given you that time. It is almost as if to say, ‘you now have my attention, speak!’.
His star currency is at an all-time high and he is almost unaware of it. “I am loving the way 7Aam Arivu has shaped up. And Shruti Haasan is one amazing actress. I wouldn’t compare her to her father, but she is unique,” says Suriya with a twinkle in his eyes.
Suriya who has just received an American Express ‘reserve’ card, the first to receive it in the city, was all excited, but the man is as reserved as they come, when it comes to family. “No comments,” was all he said when asked about summer vacation plans of his two lovely kids Diya and Dev.
He however, seemed visibly excited about younger brother Karthi’s upcoming nuptials. “We as a family are very excited. It is my younger brother’s marriage,” flaunting a toothy smile. He adds, “It will be a completely traditional wedding which will take place in our home town Coimbatore.”
While Karthi’s star is shining bright in Kollywood, those within the industry and beyond have noticed his humility and talent. Even at an earlier exclusive to DC Karthi had said, that Coimbatore used to be his holiday haunt during his childhood and it is apt that it is all coming together for him in the city. All the functions are set to take place at Coimbatore.
Unlike the naach-gaana of sangeet’s, “This celebration won’t have me dancing for sure,” laughs the hunk. And in a gesture that lets his simplicity do the talking, Suriya took off his footwear before lighting a traditional lamp during an event in the city, on the sidelines of which he spoke to DC.
Is the family excited about the whole marriage? “Yes. It will be a typical Tamil wedding with all customs and traditions, just like mine,” he reminisces with a fond smile.
