Kundapur, Dec 26: We see several families getting separated. But we rarely see a couple that lived together and became one in the funeral pyre as well.

An elderly couple here has given an example for such togetherness. Mudoora Devadiga, a resident of Beskoor Mane, Uppunda Grama, was 85 years old and was suffering due to old age related ailments. He passed away in the residence of his wife at Bijoor on Sunday night.

On hearing about his death, people especially the villagers and his family members gathered in large numbers. His mortal remains were kept for viewing at the residence. Preparations were made for his last rites.

Meanwhile, his 77-year-old wife Krishni Devadiga collapsed all of a sudden in front of the mortal remains of her husband and died before the villagers could realise what transpired.

The couple has five sons, grandchildren and a large number of friends and relatives.
